INTRODUCTION Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune neurological disease associated with inflammation of the myelin sheaths of the central and peripheral nervous systems (CNS and PNS respectively).1,2,3 The normal function of myelin is to provide an insulation barrier essential for propagation of neuronal impulses. Since demyelination and impaired neuronal transmission are the hallmarks of the disease, patients diagnosed with MS often present with deficits in vision, strength, sensation and/or coordination.
